Owner: University of Florida
Size: 2.1 MW Expansion
Construction Cost: $55,000,000
The UF Data Center had an existing chiller plant that was expanded from 700kW to 2.8MW. Existing distribution pumps were upgraded, chilled water piping was added/modified, VESDA leak detection system was implemented, and new CRAH units (181kW units) were provided for the new data hall. A thermal storage tank was designed next to the chiller plant to provide an extra 10 minute redundancy to the Owner. The sequence of operations was updated for the entire data center to support the new added HVAC components. An existing DX unit supporting the office and non-critical spaces was retrofitted and the associated CAV units were replaced with VAV units to help improve the PUE of the facility. Due to space/real estate restrictions, there was a small cooling capacity deficit in the chiller plant that was bridged by designing in-row coolers.
